How cool do they keep food & drinks

I have one of these.... ex caravanning use. They are very good for cooling beer when fridge is full, only trouble is they have a fan in to circulate air across the 'works' and this is noisy. We now take ours to Travel Inns, etc. but can't leave on overnight 'cos of the noise. You will find they cool for so many degrees below the ambient temperature.... 20F?.... so depends how hot the air temp is as to how cool they get inside. Also watch how long you use it if engine switched off as can quickly flatten car battery as learned to our cost. I now also have a proper mains to 12 volt (you can't use battery charger) rectifier like mobile phone charger so can use indoors. Good with Galaxy as has the 2 power sockets in the boot.

I've had one for two years now, mine is very quiet, I've been running it on a battery charger with no problems. Last year we used it as a fridge in the tent, on the charger with onsite mains hookup and it worked brilliantly.

Two weeks ago I left it on in the back of the car for too long and needed to jumpstart the car. So I've just bought a gadget from www.towsure.co.uk that is basically a replacement 12v lead, but it cuts out if your car battery goes below a certain voltage, then cuts back in when the voltage rises again, it cost

Not everyone knows this but Ford do a coolbox that replaces one of the seats in the Galaxy. It also works as a hotbox if you reverse the plug.

It is very expensive at around
