DaveDid you reset the errors after you changed the MAF etc? 1166 Bank1, Long Term Fuel Trim, Range 2 Rich Limit Exceeded Check the MAF was replaced with the correct type/part no. You didnt get it from fleabay did you? 1557 Charge Pressure Contr. Positive Deviation Either turbo vacuum control pipework leaking or turbo vane actuator sticking Quote

The MAF was from a car spares center - Bosch replacement. Not sure what the 1166 error meansIs the turbo vane actuator accessible and any idea if there is a quick test I can carry out. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Dave Quote
seatkid Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 I did get the errors reset. The MAF was from a car spares center - Bosch replacement. Not sure what the 1166 error means1166 Bank1, Long Term Fuel Trim, Range 2 Rich Limit Exceeded I "think" this means that the ECU can no longer trim (zero and FSD) the values its sees from the MAF, i.e. the MAF output is out of range. There are many different variants of MAF sensors for every different engine variant. Its important to get exactly the right one. What was this "car spares center"? Sounds as if it was a scrapyard. Many MAF sensors are already buggered when cars are scrapped. It would explain why limp mode is now permanent. Is the turbo vane actuator accessible and any idea if there is a quick test I can carry out. Errm yes, sort of....Do a search and you will find many threads with different approaches to tackling this common problem. Symptoms are the car trips into limp mode when trying to accelerate hard, only resettable by switching ignition off and restarting. Quote
Davek Posted May 4, 2012 Author Report Posted May 4, 2012 Sorry should have been clearer it was a spares car parts shop (not secondhand). The MAF was a Bosch with the same codes as the old one.The chap in the shop confirmed it was the correct replacement part.Looking to strip the turbo down , clean it and replace but I am not a mechanic so may take some time.Any suggestions or watchouts about what I should be carefull of disconnecting. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Will keep you posted how it goes. Regards Dave Well I seem to have fixed the problem.Changed the MAP (manfold air pressure) sensor and fuel filter along with manually pulling the turbo actuator in and out a few times.Only things is I cannot say which of these actually fixed the problem.I did have to get all the codes removed and reset but now seems to be working as mormal.
