myfirstgalaxy Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 Hi All,I bought a galaxy but it only came with one key. Fortunately it is the remote locking key but it wasn't working. I've replaced the batteries in the key, and now the little light on the key illuminates so I know it's trying, but still no effect on the car. Any help would be appreciated. I've looked in the FAQ section but the link doesn't seem to work. I'm also considering getting another key made, is this expensive? It's a 2000 2.3 petrol model, MkII. Thanks, Karl. Quote

Thanks, Karl. hi the way it says for my mk1 galaxy is-lock the car make sure it's all locked and windows closedthen turn the key in the drivers door to open(clock wise)3 times pausing when the key is as far as it would go then the led on the drivers dood will illuminate take the key out press and hold the open button on the fobwhile doing this press the close button 3 times then let go of all the buttons wait a little while (30 secs ish) then try your remoteit should reprogram the fob hope this helps it's worth a try as it doesn't cost anythingdon't know if it'll work on the mk2 tho Quote
alan_131 Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 Hi KarlLots of "how to"s on the forums but from the Ford Owner's Guide which came with my 2000 Ghia (wireless remote) Button 1 = unlock on remote (nearest key blade)Button 2 = lock on remote Insert the key in the driver's door lock and turn it three times in the unlocking direction. Every time hold the key for approximately 0.5 seconds in that position. Remove the key from the lock. The control light on the driver's door illuminates. Point the key at the rear view mirror and depress button 2 (lock button). Whilst holding button 2 down depress button 1 (unlock button) three times. Release button (2)The key is now coded. The control light in the driver's door will flash for confirmation. A local locksmiths was able to cut a key (not with remote unlocking, but with immobilizer chip) for my 97 galaxy for Quote
