Dear friends,

We have the following problem with our '99 2.3 dohc authomatic galaxy:

When we arrive at fairly low speed continuous drive speed (up to approx 2500 rpm) the engine stutters often but not always, until we (and more) gas bijgeven. At a standstill in the d varies the speed around 750 stores and sometimes even decreasing. When the car in the p or n put it back to normal speed and the engine will not spontaneously. When you start and put in the d, there is nothing wrong.

When using injection cleaner seemed the issue, but after 2 refueling the problem is again, and injector cleaner helps even more.

What have we done:

Spark plugs replaced

1 of the ignition coils replaced because of the contact was broken

lmm replaced

air filter

egr blanked off

injectors cleaned

fuel filter

Who can help us with this?

Thanks ...

P.s. Great site, i've allready solved some problems with help of this site, and sorry for any mistakes in my english because i'm dutch.

lmm replaced

?? whats a lmm??

Stuttering on a petrol is 90% likely an ignition issue. As you have already changed the plugs, I suggest you look at the leads and the unchanged coil paks. Its common for the insulation to break down with age. Maybe you'll be able to see them tracking in the dark.

and finally, welkom!

Sorry lmm is the mass air flow meter (dutch is Lucht Massa Meter)

I didn't see any sparks in the dark, even when I sprayed the insulation of the leads with some water. One of the coil packs is allready changed because the contacts had slightly broken off. Coil packs aren't cheap and i don't expect the other one to be faulty.

Check the leads resistance they may have broken internally.

Just because you dont expect the coil pak to be faulty doesnt mean it isnt. The only way to rule it out is to change it for a known good one.

Check all vacuum pipes for air leaks, the main vacuum pipe often splits at the servo end and at the end going into the manifold.
