Obadiah Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I'm hoping someone can help me, I have a 2001 Y reg Gal 1.9 TDi and she's having some starting issues. When i turn the key all the normal warning lights come on as usual, once the coil light goes out I turn her over, however... The engine is really slow to turn over, sounds like the starter is struggling, but just as the engine catches and starts I get a loud electronic warning sound that goes "PING", after which the engine carries on working fine, as she should. I initially put it down to the cold since it started doing it at the end of last year. Also to reinforce that theory, when ever the engine has been run for sometime and is nice and warm it doesn't happen. I'm concerned though that it might be something more sinister since the weather has warmed considerably. To say this has perplexed me is somewhat of an understatement!! If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful Quote
chromedome Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 The Galaxy has been known to make strange noises when the battery is giving out. Might be worth getting the battery checked first. Quote
