Guest KenC Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Hi, I'm new to this site and hope some one out there can give me some advice. I have a Galaxy TDi (90BHP) which I am generally pleased with but am thinking about buying a caravan. I am able to identify the type of caravan I want within the kerbweight restrictions etc. but does anyone have any first hand experience of actually towing and how these vehicles fair? Are there any snags or points to watch out for? Regards KenC Quote
johnb80 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Whilst I can't really comment on the 90BHp from a pulling point of view, my Gal 115 TDi tows very well indeed, second only to my 4.2 Range Rover. I tow a big Tow-A-Van that is up to the Gals max towing weight. Regards - John Quote
galantlad Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Used my 115 hp tdi ghia as towcar for first time last weekend with 5 adults, luggage and 1300kg caravan and it tows very well. returned just over 30 mpg i feel it was better than my previous car a 2.9i Scorpio Quote
Guest rusty Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Hi I have a 1.9 TDi and tow a 515 (about a 21 foot caravan). Single axle job. The Galaxy doesn't even know it's attached. I've only towed on relatively short journeys to date, but with a mixture of motoring. Regards Rusty Quote
Guest KenC Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 Thanks for all the help. Caravan hunting starts in earnest this weekend. Regards Ken Quote
