I've noticed recently that the bite point on my clutch is getting lower and lower first thing in the morning - now about 1 inch off the floor - has anyone else had experience of this and is there an easy remedy?

 

I've also noticed that the change from 4th to 3rd now has a crunch in it unless you change gear slowly and carefully - could it be related?

Could be related - has the cable stretched (is is cable or hydraulic?). Self-adjusting mechanism gone wrong?

All Hydraulic - sounds like seals or air - BTW mine has always been 1 inch from the floor (clutch not crutch).

Thanks for the responses - I believe this is a hydraulic clutch and when the garage has looked at it, they claim the clutch is on it's way out. They reckon the easiest cure is a new clutch which is

And so to the end of the saga. The clutch pedal headed for the floor a week yesterday and it was the clutch master cylinder. The second one in 5 months but fortunately not the clutch itself.

 

Beware Ford Garages that just try and sell you the most expensive part to fix a lesser problem -
