Guest mytaylor Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Ello all, I have alloy's on my 1.9TDi and my tyres are forever deflating. None of the tyres have any problems as far as I can see and are all less than a year old. I'm sure this is just leakage between tyre and rim, but I am not sure. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to keep them at the right pressure or do I have to buy shares in my local garage's air pump ? Cheers in advance for any help offered :( Quote
Guest docker Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 i would go for valve faults , have the cores come loose , are they sealed on rim correctlyvalve caps dont meen no leaks !!!!! PHIL Quote
Richmond Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 The remedy for leakage between tyre and rim used to be an inner tube, but I'm sure that this is frowned upon now, if not illegal. IIRC, I once had a liquid sealant applied aound the bead on the rim before the tyre was replaced (not on the Galaxy), which I think solved the problem. Otherwise, invest in a foot pump and cancel the gym subscription. Quote
djacks42 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Get your tyre fitter to clean up the inside of the rims and then reapply sealant to bead of tyre and rim. I had this on a mundano and it worked. Quote
suzuki91 Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 i had three new tyres fiited and all of them leaked slowly.i took them back to the fitter who applied the sealer to the rims, no leaks now. Quote
Guest Andy Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 a black rubber based sealent is what i used to use ,as long as all the loose paint is removed and a generous coat is applied then you will never get another problem,as good as new, although when replacing a tyre i would always fit a new valve as well. :D :D :D  Quote
