galantlad Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Well i am new to this ford forum and been a life long BMW and sports car driver but recently bought a 2003 Ghia TDI with 6 comfy seats with 8K from Motorpoint of burnley for Quote
Guest nimrod Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Right then lads I'm starting a book on when galantlad post his first complaint or fault, the book is open on the time and the item of failure or complaint Nah! only joking :( but if or when it happens the DGO's door will be open and you will be welcome to join :( Quote
galantlad Posted June 8, 2004 Author Report Posted June 8, 2004 Well Nimrod BMWs break down and when they do it can be very upsetting when the bill arrives. My neibour has just been given a new S60 Volvo to replace his V70 T5 Estate , A car much favoured by the police, But after 24 break downs in 8 months ( is this a record ) he had just had enough. I expect any car i own to fail at some time and with the current trend in the way cars are built they can only be repaired by Main Dealers or garages that invest heavily in technology. I have for many years had a Classic car in one form or another and they are a joy to work on as they can be easily repaired at home. Yes I just wanted to let people know that Gals can be Good as well as bad Quote
johnb80 Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 I'll second what galantlad has said, I have driven many MPV's and the Galaxy is only second to the Voyager which really shouldn't count because it was in the states with it's 3.8 litres and fuel at Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 ...and we all know what I think if mine! It still has some way to go to make it the best car I've ever owned but at this stage (after 13 months of ownership) only complaint is the aircon failure and poor dealer attempts at fixing it. Still cannot think of anything I'd rather be driving (except perhaps a new-shape Espace but they don;t come with parking sensors front and rear, or cassette tape/minidisc players). Incidentally, washed and polished it 2 weeks ago and applied Autoglym spray-on tyre dressing - the best thing I've found for tyres so far. They look great with a nice even sheen. Quote
Richmond Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Surely the whole point of this forum is to try to help each other with problems (and to have pointless discussions about flag waving, obviously). No problem, no need to post. Telling each other how brilliant our cars are is not especially useful. Quote
Guest BOZZY Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Bought my first MPV 10 months ago and am absolutely thrilled with it. Yes I've had a couple of niggles (aircon and windscreen wiper blindpots), but I still love it. At just Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 OK, I might as well chuck my twopenneth worth in. I really like my Galaxy especially when its clean and Ive cleaned the spilt drinks of the leather interior that the kids have smeared everywhere. I drive a lot of miles and in traffic or short hops I can find driving it slightly wearing. I love the seven seats but wish there was more room behind the 3rd row for football equipment, shopping, buggy etc. Cant complain at servicing at the moment, love the DVD system I had installed, the fuel economy returns what effort you are prepared to put into it. The engine pulls well for a 19 diesel and stops well too, the brakes are excellent. I wished it didnt do 120+ as Ive just been done for speeding at 85 in a 50 (possibly) and the stone chips are starting to show on the bonnet. Other than that its not as smooth as I would like, but then i am used to driving luxury saloons not MPVs Quote
Tigger Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 On my second galaxy only moan I have is its too good . Ford should have put some niggles in so I can complain. I see no-one has taken the bet on! I do think galantlad you are being a little un fair. the comments on this board are well spread and there are many people that have praised their Shalaxy. After a while you will see people are open minded and praise is given where it is due. Just look at the towing threads or fuel threads for TDi,s O and Nimrods LPG supper rocket! By the way welcome on board. Andy I have put the cargo Blue Peter net in as shown on the other threads it is great for the shopping etc. Satck it high and nothing falls out the back! B) Quote
galantlad Posted June 12, 2004 Author Report Posted June 12, 2004 just wanted to add a little reason for a "debate" to get a balanced opinion! It worked This forum site is by far the best one around and may it stay that way My TDI is still brill but so is my 19 year old 323i BMW Quote
