Hi folks , wondering if anyone has had the same issue or could shed any light on this :

Just got the Galaxy back on the road (1998 2.3 auto) and after 3 weeks of driving the auto box has gone into limp mode...

Able to select Reverse , drive , 3 , 2 and one however 2 and 3 and drive both seem to pull exactly the same and feels as if there is no difference in the ratio .

Also kick down does not seem to work at all in drive.

Obd reader came back with p0135 code which i believe is a faulty o2 sensor ... could this affect the auto box , unfortunately I dont have a vagcom reader but i am going to purchase one on ebay .....

All wiring and connector blocks checked and seem to be fine , as do any earth leads.... , there are also no leaks around the autobox itself or its sump ...

Any help appreciated , thanks in advance.

I believe faulty lambda readings can indeed cause the engine and/or auto gearbox to go into limp mode. There was a thread very recently where a hole in the cat caused all sorts of problems with the auto gearbox.

A VAG-COM cable is a very worthwhile investment, IIRC I paid about

Thanks Paul,

I now have a new Lambda sensor (still to fit) and my vagcom cable arrived today.. results are as follows

00258 solenoid 1-n88 , open circuit

00260 solenoid 2-n89 , open circuit

00262 solenoid 3-n90 , open circuit

00264 solenoid 4-n91 , open circuit

00266 solenoid 5-n92 , open circuit

00268 solenoid 6-n93 , open circuit

00270 solenoid 7-n94 , open circuit

So fingers crossed hopefully a bad connector or bad earth somewhere
