steve.cafc Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Hello everyone, I'm in the process of replacing my front and rear brake pads, I thought I could wind back my rear piston with mole grips like I did with my Mondeo, but the piston isn't having it, It's just spinning. I'll have to buy a wind back tool, I've seen left handed ones and right handed ones, could anybody tell me which one I need ? I know the piston went in a little bit with a clockwise turn. I have a 2002 Alhambra TDi, Any help and advice would be gratefully received. Best Regards Steve. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Hi Steve Do a search - There is one that is sold via Halfords but I can't remember the brand. It's around Quote
SpKM3 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Hi I bought one recently from amazon for my Audi, it's the right hand threaded one you need. Machine mart also sell them quite cheap too. Quote
steve.cafc Posted March 25, 2012 Author Report Posted March 25, 2012 Hello Bigjeeze, I've worked out that my clockwise motion is a right handed thread, so I've now ordered one. Thanks for your help, best Regards Steve. Quote
SolarB Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 A bit late for you now but I managed to wind my pistons back in last weekend with molegrips. You have to push really hard while turning clockwise.Must order myself one of those tools. Quote
steve.cafc Posted March 27, 2012 Author Report Posted March 27, 2012 Hello SolarB, If I had my callipers in a vice I might have been able to push them back, but dangling on the car I just couldn't push them in, I ended up burring the edge of the piston ! I'll try and file it smooth. My tool has already arrived so I give it another go this weekend ! Best regards to you all. Quote
