Hi,

Can anyone help with the following problem.

Vehicle is a S Reg Galaxy, 2.8 V6 Automatic X-pack.

When selecting reverse gear the engine revs uncontrollably sending the vehicle learching backwards. When the vehicle is restarted it runs fine.

Can any one help with any info on this problem.

Thanks

Hi

I noticed you have placed this topic on the site elsewhere, there is a small community on the boards so it should get feedback wherever you post it, once is normally enough but I understand your worry.

I have to say I am not offay with auto boxes at all but does the accelerator pedal move down when you select reverse ?

In all honesty you might have to bite the bullet and find a reliable auto box specialist who can look at it for you, it might simply be a switch of some sort.

This is why I bought a manual vehicle as I heard many issues with auto boxes. <_<

Hi,

I have a 2.8 Auto, Mine stalled in Reverse once when it was brand new, I took it back to the ford dealer, they Fitted the Gal with a new gearbox, If it is still under warranty try taking it back and see what ford say! or Take it to a VW garage as the engines are the same, they provide a much better quality service.

Hope this has Helped

Think you will find that Ford garages do not have the relevant electronics to interrogate the 2.8's auto box. You should try a VW dealer.
