Hello Chaps (and Chappesses),

I've just had a nice big bill, on my '96 V6 Ghia, from the local VW garage.

Eight Hundred and fifty of her majesty's finest, for 12 cam followers, new cam chain + tensioner.

Asked for the old parts, and they gave me the followers (to my untrained eye they looked undamaged) anyone know anything about how they work/fail. They couldn't produce the cam chain..... said it must have been thrown away....

Anyway the reason for the big bill they said was to change the cam chain the auto box had to be dropped, to access the chain? Hence 10.5 hrs labour.

Does this sound kocher??

They did fix the top end noise, and gave the beast a wash, but have I been had....?

cheers,

Ian.
