djacks42 Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 We just got back from a 1500mile round trip to Switzerland and about 2 miles from the Calais ferry turnoff, the frt-offside tyre had a major blowout at 85mph. We just heard a rumbling noise that got louder and louder until we stopped safely on the hard shoulder. There were 3 seperate gashes/holes in the nearly new 215/65r Goodyear sidewalls and smoke everywhere. No idea what casued it - pressure was good and tyre had no nails afaik. Maybe a defect somewhere? I can now confirm two things though. A fully laden Shalaxy will not spin off the road in this situation, and changing these damn things in this weather is no fun at all. ps. where's the best place for a replacement tyre at the minute? pps. the halfords equivalent next to Carrefour in Calais had Goodyear/Dunlops/Continentals for about Quote
