Hi All,

This is my first post so please be kind! I've a Y reg 2.3 manual Galaxy which had until today no cruise control.

As the title suggests I found the problem in the end but here for any poor souls that find themselves in a similar

position I will give a heads-up of what's in store.

Firstly Check the fuse, I have heated washer jets which work and are from the same fuse so concluded fuse ok.

Then went in search of the CC vacuum pump....found it under the NSF wing behind the indicator lense. If you look

At the NSF inner wing you'll see three rubber plugs about 6mm in size arranged with one at the top and two at the bottom

In a triangle.mthis gives you a good idea of where the pump is.

I pulled down the wheel arch liner to reveal the pump and wiring, noted straight away the vac hose was perished, trimmed back

and re-fitted. Bench tested pump all ok. Three wires colours and pictures to follow.

Removed the passenger glovebox. To avoid confusion this is a UK RHD so left hand side of car.

Remove the small flap lift glovebox draw up until it pops out of clips the withdraw, remove it's surround too.

Four screws plus A PLASTIC RIVET/PLUG in the end of the dashboard near the door hinge.

Looking to the right hand side of the aperture you will see hidden back on itself the control unit.

I continuity tested the wires from under the wing back to the control module. All ok

So stripped the control column surround and disconnected the CC stalk plug and continuity tested

Back to control modular plug, all ok.

Managed to get my head in an acute angle and saw the yellow wire from the stalk itself was broken.

To remove stalk you need to pry the top and bottom lugs apart whilst the switch is in the off position and withdraw

It complete, to remove the plug from the column clip I unplugged the light switch and the slid a screwdriver behind the retaining

bracket to release it. I had to pull the switch apart.... Not recommended!!!!

You must put the control switch (on off) in the off position I guess as I had it in the on position and managed to break the plastic lugs.

Sadly cannot say for certain what position works as broke mine. Fixed with welded plastic.

Insert a screwdriver in the hole in the switch housing and withdraw complete unit.

I soldered the yellow wire and refitted. All ok now and working well.

I hope this information is of use to somebody at some time. Wire colours and pin numbers for control module are available in this

Forum by member 28vr6.

As always just for information no liability accepted. Blah blah blah
