Gearbox Problem

Hi

 

Galaxy 2003 2.3l Zetec Auto 95K on clock

 

The engine light came on

 

Checked the fault got a p0700 code gearbox voltage low reset it and it came back on.

 

Car is stuck in 3rd gear (limp home i think)

 

Can change to 2nd or first manually.

 

(car will not change its self)

 

What are my options

 

Dont want to take it to Ford as they will see me coming if you know what i mean.

 

Found a gearbox specialist in Peterborough, suggested it could need a rebuild, my worry is that

 

what he will do regardless of the fault.

 

Can the Auto ECU cause this?

 

If it does need a new box fine, I just dont want hanging out to dry?
