Guest mjp753 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Help,Recently bought a Galaxy and have a problem with the drivers electric window. It works when the ignition is on but engine not running, but when the engine is started it no longer works. I tried cleaning the contacts on the switch before buying a new one , strangely this didn't work until I was just about to fit the new switch then it worked! Thought I'd fixed it and so went to take back switch but problem returned on next attempt. Put in a new switch same problem.Wiring in A post between door, looks o.k (wire casing on 2 wires does have a split but the wires strands do all look fully intact at that point.) Has anyone had a similar problem before? The chap who sold the car said he thought this problem would clear if I took to a Ford garage and ran a complete computer test which would reset everything. I tried this and the Ford garage said they ran a computer test which didn't show any faults and suggetsed a new switch. The seller also said that would cure the remore locking problem which is also not working (new batteries and attempted program from handbook did not correct, (weak red light with new batteries then after a day or so no red light, but have bought new remote (as advised by Ford garage) and will tackle that one later. I see some good advice on programming on other threads.Car is having aircon regassed and discs skimmed today (not Ford garage) to cure initial vibration on light braking.Hopefully all will be up to scratch fairly soon! Guest mjp753 Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Update.Window presently working regularly (engine running or ignition on only), (did leave new switch in, although this didn't cure initially. Don't really understand why but happy now working.New element in remote key was successfully programmed and now works. Brake skim cured vibration on light initial braking and aircon now producing much more powerful cool air also with antibacterial clean and new pollen filter. I note threads on wipers and blindspot. This is something I have been starting to realise in the couple of weeks since I got the car. I also will need to move the wipers one spline to improve if poss - next job! Quote
