With this sort of prblem it may be best left to the specialists.

As it scares the hell out of us mere mortals. I also have a Merc C200 with a similar problem, I dread how much this will cost to rectify.

Not sure how to take that comment... :unsure:

 

I know very little about auto boxes... Could be a wiring/plug problem, worn out brake band(s), low oil level or sensor issue. Possibly a VAGOM/diagnostic scan will throw up an error code.
