mstickler Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 hi,does anyone know if you can get away with using old gasket on egr value or do i need to renew it. I've seen on site that egr value could cause loss of power & cleaning it will solve problem. Or could it be the cat gone as i have no power when put my foot down. it run's ok on idle Quote

mstickler Posted January 18, 2012 Author Report Posted January 18, 2012 does it run lumpy?have you checked the maf.just got no pick up, it's seems to be ok till you get up 3000rpm in any gear. have done dia test the other day all was ok but will be stripping down tomorrow & give it a clean with the EGR value. also it does not like going up hills on motorways just goes down to 50 or 60 mph then when up it use to pick speed up but know it has just got worse. just hope its a blocked value or pipe if not cat. I know fuel filter is ok as renewed last september. Quote
gregers Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 do a search on here for maf, sounds like thats your problem. Quote
seatkid Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Agreed, classic MAF sensor failure symptom. If you unplug your MAF sensor, and it runs better or no worse it sort of confirms that the MAF sensor is likely to be duff (but not always!) A few claim that removing the sensor from its housing and cleaning with a good solvent has given then back a working sensor, but it didnt work for me and others. Best if you can swap it out for a known good one. Beware if you get one that it is the correct one for your engine / model year as several are used and they cant be interchanged.
