Tail Gate Wiring Loom

Morning All,

 

Have had a scan of the site and cannot find an answer so though i would throw it out in the open.

I am having the normal galaxy iissue with the wiring loom to the tail gate and the heated rear screen does not work. The rubber gaitor between the Main Body and the tail gate is knackered (read as doen not exist any more).

 

Be cause of this i was thinking about trying to replace the loom in the tail gate but was wondering whether the connection into the Main loom is Car or Tailgate side and how easy this would be to change.

I know that in my late mk1 sharan, it's body side. I'm thinking of doing some splicing and joining on this myself, accessing via the jack compartment.

I have similar issue with my mk1 2litre glx, I've had central locking issues, window issues, light issues,wiper issues too, to name a few as a result of loom becoming brittle and breakdown. All have been rectified by splicing in new lengths of cable at the point of breakage, just strange that galaxy arteries seem to go through this very active armpit!!!!

I would suggest that if you have enough flexibility on cables in situ, cut a clean joint and add extra cable as I found there wasnt much give in cable run between tailgate and body
