ps3steveo Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Hi I just bought a Galaxy 2.3 Ghia X 1998 for my family, it has a slight problem, when its started I sometimes hear a relay firing like a machine gun and once started if i plant my foot to the floor fast it pops and seems to miss a little, when driving its fine if its over 2000rpm below that it does the same miss firing. I checked the coil pack and plugs, checked relay 30 as I know this can be a problem but all looks fine? Any ideas? Quote
seatkid Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Most likely to be one of the coilpaks or leads I think. Quote
ps3steveo Posted October 31, 2011 Author Report Posted October 31, 2011 Just bought a new set of coil packs and leads so we'll see in the next few days. Quote
Metalliblob Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 Hi,I had a simular problem. The engine started fine and ran well but when idleing every now and again you could hear a slight missfire. Another symptom was were high fuel usage, even for a Zetec 2.3 it was high.Replaced both coil packs and leads and it was instantly fixed.I only found the missfire when I went for a new exhaust and could here it in the garage. It was so slight that I hadn't noticed it, didn't seem to make any difference to the performance either. So a pair of coilpacks and leads and the fuel usage is spot on. Also found it started quicker than before and sounds slightly smoother. Quote
