3rd Gear Crunch

Hiya All

just getting ready for the big 30,000 major service and felt a crunch when changing up into 3rd this only happening after about an hours driving and some quick changes?(blowing out the cobwebs) have got the 3yr 60,000 warranty and wondered if anyone else had had this problem and what the solution was?

thought at first it might be the syncro but its fine on changing down?

any help or advise to get the best out of the dealership when it goes for service would be great. :(

Hi Smurf, I had this problem on my old 2000 W Zetec 1.9TDI with the 5 speed box, you had to push the gear lever right in or it would crunch and jump, only in 3rd. I remember having th clutch replaced but not sure if it got rid of the problem I think it was a synchro issue, anyway, i soild the car for a new one before anything else went wrong.

Could be gear linkage cables stretched or about to break, Had similiar prob with my V6
