Metallic 'clanging' In Rear Roof Area

Have had a real good metallic 'clanging' sound toward the rear roof area of my 2004 1.9TD Gal. Have had numerous mechanics have a look - all drew mainly a blank. One guy reckoned it was coming from the boot hinge area, but didn't want to investigate any further due to the airbag systems located there.

 

The sound is always there as the car is in motion - never known anything make it reduce. Doubtless something metallic has come free or needs tightening, but darned if I know what it could be.

 

Just wondered if anyone had ever experienced anything similar??

Best thing to do with annoying sounds is find yourself a large empty carpark and then get someone to sit in the offending area pinpoint the cause whilst you drive around.
