Hi All

Just a quickie as Im sure someone knows the answer....

Today I can't open the back door without the key. Is there any obvious fuse I should be checking. All other doors open and close via central locking fine only the tailgate wont open or close. So any suggestions of the top of your head.

For Daves benefit in particular I have a 1998 Galaxy Tdi glx, dark blue, a few stone chips, 55% tyre tread left, holed speaker grills, missing horn buttons and desperately in need of a wash. There I think thats enough info..... :(

Thanks in advance

you missed out whether or not you have the engine under tray still fitted? :(

do a search on the topic, a fellow member, Mauser had the same problem and traced it down to a broken wire in the loom where it crosses from the main car body to the rear hatch! IIRC you had trouble with the lights on the hatch? so you you should know where to start looking :D

Sounds like a broken wire where the loom enters the tailgate, it's a common problem. Try a search on this, there is quite a lot of info on repairs.

Lol

Just re-read my post and god I sound like a grumpy old man... lol

Thanks Nimrod and Howard. I was hoping it was something easier like a fuse but kind of guessed it would be the loom. I will start investigating today.
