My grilfriend who owns the KA though it was tappets and she has had them replaced b4, and not long ago. The ford dealership have diagnosed a camshaft problem, but heres the bets bit.They want 840quid to place it, i know its a bit of ajob, with engine removal needed, But 840 quid, is this right, is she better off taking it somewhere else,or does that sound about right???
Guest manxdavid Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 My cam went at about 60,000 miles. The followers can seize in their bores and this leads to rapid lobe wear. I'd try another garage if I were you. I ended up getting a second hand engine from a low-milage crashed Fiesta (couldn't find a Ka one at the time but the differences are only superficial; intake, pulleys and sump I think) and had it fitted.
