Hi,

I have just purchased an 01 plate 2.8 ghia and owned a 2.3 mk1. the newer engine (2.8Vr6) has a con rod through the side of the block. I either need a second hand engin or... is it possible to swap the 2.3 engine from the mk1 till I can find a 2.8 at a sensible price?

Any adviceis helpfull!

No. Wayyyy to many differences as they are entirely different engines not just a different displacement size. The 2.8 is a VW engine and the 2.3 a Ford so virtually nothing is the same.

Lot of hassle to do as wires, downpipes are different can be done though I would say break the mk2 getting another ayl 24v engine for less than 600 will be hard as its popular with gti modders.

I picked up a spare radiator from a 2.8 owner who was breaking his Galaxy, same as you the engine had gone big time

In his garage was a VR6 from a golf which was also for sale as it didn't fit the Galaxy so it sounds like you need a Galaxy or Sharan V6 I'm afraid

Hi, Thanks for that Information, It looks like trying to get a spare engine for the galaxy/ sharan is not as easy as I had hoped!
