MrT Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 On the Galaxy is there any air filtration during recirculation or does it only occur on fresh air intake? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 The only filter in the system is the pollen filter, so it only filters during fresh air intake Quote
rwtomkins Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 I sometimes hear about an odour filter, too. Is this just the pollen filter under another name? Quote
MrT Posted May 28, 2004 Author Report Posted May 28, 2004 In the Galaxy there is only the main filter. I think, but stand to be corrected, that the odour filter and pollen filter are interchangable with the odour being a more expensive version having activated carbon in it. Most people are probably referring to the same thing when they talk about odour or pollen filters. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 In theory you don't need a filter when in recirculation mode, as the air has already been filtered on its way into the cabin. Quote
johnb80 Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 >>In theory you don't need a filter when in recirculation mode, as the air has already been filtered on its way into the cabin<< How do you get in without opening a door or window ? What about when you drive with the window open ?Sorry, just being argumentitive  Quote

Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Curry and ale - that's what I meant by "in theory"!!! Opening a door to get in - the air in the cabin will be changed within a few minutes by the forced flow ventilation once you are on the move, and don't forget that the air recirc will automatically revert to the fresh air intake after about 20 minutes as a safety precaution to prevent CO2 causing drowsiness etc. Opening a window is perhaps the only "get-out" Quote
