tOOlfOOl Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 hi newbie here so if im going over old ground i appologise. i have a mk1 2000 reg tdi the air con pulley has seized solid, after searching old posts i read the pump can be removed and the air con bypassed.after removing the pump iv looked, scratched ,looked again and cannot see how this is possible(water pump impedes the belt line from crank to altenator pulleys)is this only possible on petrol varients?advice would be most welcome before i commit to a new/used air con pump .ty in advance Quote
tOOlfOOl Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 ok...to make it easier,,,,,is the air con bypass only relevant to petrol galaxies and not possible on the diesel versions ? ty Quote
Amarok Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 here is a drawing of the drive belt the air con compressor is middle right between the Alternator and the steering pump http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/Amarokuk/drivebelt.gif if you remove the Aircon compressor it should run straight from the Alternator to the Steering pump. This is how I did it on mine (petrol VR6) Quote
tOOlfOOl Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 thanks for the reply amrok, seems the bypass is petrol version specific only ,as my air con, altenator pulleys are not in line with the water/power steering pulleys.thanks again for ur swift response Quote
