Sorry about this but i'm sure I am just being a bit thick and need a shove in the right direction.

Sorry about the long post but bear with me and all will be revealed :-

I am having problems with my central locking and interior lights - having spent a few hours trawling the site the common denominator seems to be water ingress into the ecu beneath the front passenger seat.

Having investigated this area it would seem at sometime there has indeed been a built in swimming pool under the seat.

HOWEVER the only 'boxes' I can see under there are an inertia switch (to cut off the petrol flow in the event of a collision) and what looks like a relay with '72' stamped on it. There also appear to be two wiring connector blocks - one clearly has never been plugged into anything judging by the corrosion, but the other seems to have been plugged into something at sometime - there is nothing for it to plug into now however.

I have only just purchased the car (96 2.0 GLX) and know the garage said they were fixing the central locking before it was delivered. I suspect that to avoid problems / expense they may well have removed the unit completely and by-passed it somehow.

I have looked in the Haynes manual but can see no description or picture of the ECU - Can anyone tell me what the ECU looks like or provide a photo of one in situ? before I go back to the garage - armed and dangerous.

Thanks in anticipation :)

Thanks,

As I suspected all I have is the two threaded posts - no ECu

I'll be going back to the garage pronto!!
