hi ive had air in fuel lines for ages now just wondered if it will cause the mpg to be less?

Define air! Small bubbles are nothing to worry about - vast quantities will reduce the amount of fuel being pumped (and other things) and yes, that will cause a reduction in MPG but you would also notice poor drive-ability and possible misfire like symptoms.
