Guest lawton Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Yet another air con question.....Radiator fans do not come on when the AC is switched on. When water temp reaches 102, fans come on OK, but do not come on before that at all. Have checked all fuses etc. A/C specialist have diagnosed that there is some gas in system - checked for leaks and diagnosed fan problem. I am getting confused by the myriad different wiring diagrams, components, advice etc.....What is the unit in front of the battery with the three connectors (2 v large, 1 small)? Mine is a 2000, Auto 110 bhp tdi. Suggestions please? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 The parts your asking about, are they mounted on a bent sheet of metal with the Ford logo on it, which is fixed to the slam panel? if so its the fan control unit this unit as far as I can tell this controls the fan speed depending on the wether the aircon is switched on, or the engine temp has risen enough to call for them to operate have you checked the relay in the engine bay fuse box? IIRC there is a relay in there that is linked into the aircon and the fan operations? Quote
Guest lawton Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Thanks - yes that is it. How much do they cost - any idea? There is no fuse box in the engine compartment on mine. I have checked all the fuses and relays in and behind the central fuse box. Quote
