Mussey1 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Evening Everyone! Oil pressure warning light sometimes flashes once or twice immediately after startup (more frequently on cold start).Oil levels are fine. Is this normal?I have been informed that it may be a faulty oil pressure switch or worse!! Car is 2000 (W) TDi 110 Zetec (Old Shape). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. :) Quote
Guest Barrye Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I get this sometimes on my 98 Tdi 110, 70,000 miles. This has been happening for well over a year ( can't remember exactly). I don't know about the Tdi engine, but VW's used to be overzealous with oil pressure monitoring, my old Polo had 2 seperate sensors on the engine. This came about because old Golf's used to suffer from sudden oil pump failure (going back 20 years here). Anyway personally I wouldn't worry if it goes off within 3 or 4 seconds of starting. Mussey1 Posted April 17, 2003 Author Report Posted April 17, 2003 Thanks Barrye. I may change the oil pressure switch anyway as apparently they are not too expensive. I will post back and let you know! Mussey :) Quote
