ACD1055 Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Hiwhile driving to work this morning I noticed that the orange fog light on my dash board was flashing on and off and becomes a solid light when I press the brake pedal. When I switch my headlights on the orange foglight stays on. If I put the fog lights on the orange light stays on. I can see the front foglights are on but i dont think the back ones are working (it was hard to tell in the sunlight) any ideas what this could be? I'm hoping something nice and easy like a fuse or bulb.. Quote
bfc1001 Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 could be wiring loom to the boot door . on my first galaxy the wire had snapped so i had inop rear fogs. Quote
ACD1055 Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 ok I did a little search and I found out it could be something to do with the wiring to the tailgate. I'll check this out later. If you read this and think of something else it could be please let me know.. I'm not very good a fault finding so please let me know how to check what you think it could be. Thanks Quote
daddyfixit Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 tailgate wiring again; one wire breaks and it causes gremlins....and the tailgate rubber boot is where they live. buy yourself a decent soldering iron, some heatshrink tubing and get used to doing at least 1 wire every few months!! ACD1055 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 Thanks I had a quick look at the tailgate. which side are the wires on? Quote
bfc1001 Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 should be right side . i think the other side has the rear washer pipe in it. Quote

Thank youopen tailgate; right hand top corner---pull the rubber boot carefully out of the car body, as you look inside it you will find wires that the insulation is cracking!! theres bound to be one thats snapped, all i do is find a piece of wire the same size (and colour as i am fussy) and repair the wire and extend it a few inches at the same time. the problem is there are so many wires going through the rubber boot that they trap each other and snap. next time mine go i am goingto halve the amount of wires in the rubber boot and extend some so that they pass through the passenger side boot along with the screenwash pipes. admittedly more wiring to install but hopefully i will spend less time doing gynacologist repairs inside the drivers side rubber boot !! Thanks for this.. you are 100% correct. 1 snapped and 3 will snap very soon as the plastic coating has gone. I've fixed the snapped one and and I'll do the rest next weekend Quote
