Brake Lights

if im gently braking my brake lights dont come on only when im hard braking?? could anyone help me with this as my mot is almost due.

the brake light switch is a simple plunger switch, i.e. the further you press the pedal the further it comes out. you can adjust how close to the brake pedal the switch is in your case you need to adjust the switch a turn away from the pedal so it comes on earlier
