The wiper linkage seems to have seized and replacement parts from Ford are absurdly expensive.

I would like to locate some used parts, but there seems to be some variations (3 or 4 bolt fixing, etc) and i am not sure which will fit.

The vehicle is the Mk2 model registered in May 2001.

Question; which parts of the scuttle do i need to remove in order to find the part number, or other details?

Question; does anyone know the right part number?

Seized wipers is a good one to start on. The vast majority of these are repairable. Once you have got it out, and you've got to do that at some point, it's just a matter of stripping it down with the aid of some plus gas or similar and cleaning and greasing and it should be good for several years. Mine had a totally shot bush in the middle (not at the wiper mountings) which I replaced with a piece of 15mm water pipe with a slot in it to allow it to be reduced in diameter slightly. It did 100,000 miles and was still going strong when the engine died. You'll probably find full instructions in the FAQ.

Welcome and good luck.

If you don't fancy taking it all out you can drill small holes in the underside of the aluminium casing and spray some oil in. I used 3in1 spray copper grease. Get the wipers moving then spray a load more in for good measure. Mine have been fine ever since.
