Guest spender_uk Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 What's the sat-nav like on current galaxies? Does it integrate with traffic master? Any comments would be great. Quote
Guest Carl Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 We have an 03 Galaxy and the sat nav is brilliant, on the latest disc you can now enter the desination by post code. Two small points, some systems are coming onto the market on dvd rather than cd rom so you get more info on the one disc but I expect the cost will reflect this, the other point is the fact that the cd changer you get with the sat nav will only shuffel play one disc at a time eventually playing through all the discs, which means you dont get random play from the whole magazine, I thought this most odd but apparently this is how this particular player operates. jakey247 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Carl, if you go into the settings menu you can swap from single disc shuffle to magazine shuffle! This unit is very good as standard and even better when hooked up to the rear seat screens and DVD, it can be used as a third screen with sound via speakers. It does not hook up with traffic master, although the unit does have a hard disc memory for storing traffic announcements if you missed them. You can also push the TIM button when you park up at night and it will store the messages broadcast overnight (continually overwriting) ready for when you get in in the morning for the battle to work! very handy!!! If your looking for one I have a unit for sale! these can be fitted reasonably easily. Quote
Guest Carl Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Hi Jakey, thanks for info, but I have already tried the the settings thing and it still only shuffel plays one disc at a time, maybe there is a fault on my unit. I will keep in mind the traffic master option. Thanks Quote
jakey247 Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Carl As you say your unit must be faulty, I checked mine today and its all shufling fine, both single CD and whole magazine. Is it a factory fit CD player or dealer fit/aftermarket? Also does your car have the multifunction steering wheel? Jason Quote
Guest Carl Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Factory fitted with multy function wheel, does this make a differance Carl Quote
jakey247 Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Carl It should'nt make a difference??? I'd be interested in seeing how the connections are set up on the back of your unit, would you be prepared to pop it out for a quick look? Quote
Guest Carl Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Jakey Not up to that one Jakey but it if it ever falls out you will be the first to get a photo. I am still waiting for a reply from Ford on the problem they seem to think that the changer is working as it was designed to. According to the technical department it verifys this in the latest hand book of which they are trying to get me a copy, they say mine is out of date. On the Blaupunt website it does confirm that some of their changers do operate like this but I am not sure which model I have so they could be right Carl Quote
jakey247 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Carl, Ok no problems I understand. As I am using a sony changer via an interface this could be the difference? also is your navigation system 1 or the later system 2?? i.e. is this version Quote
Guest Carl Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Hi Jakey, It's the later System the same as the one in the photo, maybe as you say your Sony changer works differently to the Blaupunt one. Carl Quote

Guest spender_uk Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 My plan is to run a windows-ce machine with video out (running tom-tom) and connect it to the sat+nav display. However, trying to find a low cost way of getting a 'video in' into sav+nav. Any ideas? Quote
bangormaine Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Hi i wonder if anyone can advise me as to whether the sat nav system currently being fitted as part of the journey pack 2 in the Galaxy has a voice option to tell you where to turn etc. Can anyone tell me the make and model of the aforementioned sat nav unit.I am just about to order a new Galaxy and am considering this option. Thankyou Quote
