Hi,

I just mounted a towbar on my 2002 Galaxy 1.9TDI ghia, including a vehicle specific wiring loom. Too bad is that this was for a Sharan, not a Galaxy... All the connectors are the same, except the one for the foglights. They look the same, but aren't, there is just a littele difference in a little tab. To make it fit, I cut this off ;)

My tow bar connector has a break off for the rear foglights of the car when there's a trailer behind the car. I didn't complete this part of the wiring yet, when I found out that my tailgate wouldn't open. It started working again when I completed the installation of the outside trailer connector...

My conclusion is that on the Galaxy and Sharan the use almost the same connector for the rear fogs, but not exactly, because they changed some wires...

Now I'm trying to find out what colour the wires for the rear foglights in a my Galaxy have, and if it's the correct connector I'm looking at (L-shaped, on right side of the car). Also would like to know this for the tailgate release. Perhaps it will be an easy fix if I can just rewire the connectors in a different order.

Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help! ;)

OK, so I'm the biggest idiot in the whole world.... ;)

I simply got the wrong connector, I just didn't see that there were 3 L-shaped connectors, of which only the colours and thes little tabs were different... I thought there was only 1, and knowing I bought the wrong set (for a Sharan) made me jump to the wrong conclusions ;)

So: problem solved.

lesson to be learned: dont jump to conclusions and simply look a bit better, even when you're fed up with your install in the rain and cold. :)
