seatkid Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 (edited) Use the tailgate lock. If its not working electrically then a little extra effort anticlockwise will open it mechanically. You will need to hold the key in the anticlockwise position while you lift the tailgate clear of the lock. Edited July 21, 2011 by seatkid Quote

kenny walsh Posted July 21, 2011 Author Report Posted July 21, 2011 The rear hatch lock has never worked SeatKid,Mant thanks for your suggestion though.I know once I do get in it will be simple to buy new handles from Ebay,I was always gonna get around to doing that, knowing full well that if the only lock that was working broke I would be in the position I am in now!.If anyone has any other ideas,I would be really glad of any advice. Thanks again SeatKid. seatkid Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Are you sure it doesnt work (mechanically)? If the key doesnt turn in the lock (simply because its seized) then flood it with WD40. Then once the key is freed to move, turn it anticlockwise and then with a little extra effort turn it further to the horizontal position and it will push the mechanical override lever. Another possibility is to hold the key in any door in the unlock position and the windows may wind down. Quote

kenny walsh Posted July 21, 2011 Author Report Posted July 21, 2011 Thanks again SeatKid,The tailgate is as you pointed out siezed solid,it has been soaked in wd40 but the key wont even fit all the way home the tailgate was like that since I bought it,I wish I had fixed it while I could! The front passenger door was the only lock that worked, and it did indeed if held to the left open all windows, but today it has went the way of the drivers side IE it turns 360 and wont engage anywhere. This may sound extreme but I am actually at a loss,I really am thinking of drilling the lock out,but I am not sure If even this would work!,Thanks for your replies SeatKid,I hope I can sometime help you.Thanks,Kenny. kenny walsh Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 A BIG thanks to seatkid for helping me out, much appreciated M8 if I can ever return the favour just let me know.I got the rac out to it today,he managed to get the drivers door open, after he left I managed to get the rest of them open cept the front passenger side, which is deadlocked. After I manage to find a pair of locks on ebay,I will drill out the front passenger lock,so I can get the door open enabling me to fit the new handles/locks.Thanks For your help seatkid,if you hear of anyone selling such items,I would grateful if you or anyone else reading this to contact me.Once again many thanks to all,I hope I can someday help one of you guys out.(just hope no one nicks the gal as it is unlocked!!!!)SeatKid rocks!.Kenny Quote
seatkid Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Its a little awkward with the door closed, but I think you should be able to remove the door card from the inside and gain access to the lock that way. (See the technical FAQ for details) Once you have the doors open I would check the wiring in the rubber door gaitors for breaks. The deadlocks normally disengage (electrically) when the ignition is turned on. How did the RAC man get the drivers door open? And did you get the tailgate lock open? BTW, Thanks for the praise, but seeing I didn't actually give you a working solution I don't think its really deserved! Quote
