Guest dale Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Did about an hours drive today. 15 minutes before the end, the Glow Plug light began flashing. I know this can be triggered by the management system picking up a fault, but wondered if I could get any ideas what it might be? Brakes are normal and effective, I don't have ABS. Brake pedal doesn't change if light flashes. Engine is performing normally, fuel comsumption is normal, everything sounds alright. Fluid levels all appear ok, but coolant was quite low (it was hot so I'm waiting until it cools down to check and top up if necessary)... Any ideas or anyone in East Kent have a VAGCOM system I can borrow? Car details are in my blurb to the left... Cheers, Dale Quote
HJT Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 It could be one of the switches on the brake pedal (there are 2) these can fail or become out of adjustment and cause the light to flash. Howard Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 ...and don't forget to check that your brake lights are working. Quote
Guest dale Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Thanks, I'll go check now. Does anyone know of a source for the diagnostics cable for a Galaxy TDI 1998 90BHp engine? Cheers Quote
Guest chrisH Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 I got my cable from WWW.SKPANG.CO.UKI opted for the Opto One cable, then downloaded the shareware version of VAGCOM. I to had the light flashing on the dash. Once I used VAGCOM it turned out to be a vacuum hose(it had rubbed and worn through) and the intake manifold (do a search to see what work is involved on the intake manifold), Fixed the hose, cleaned the manifold and the car drives as good as new. All is now well. Quote
