White Smoke And Power Loss

Hi all

Galaxy 2.3 Zetec 2001 72000 miles.

Driving to work this morning on the motorway (60mph),the car had a sudden loss of power and emitted white/light grey smoke from exhaust. Power seemed to regain itself fairly quickly but when I put my foot on the throttle, more smoke emitted.

At the earliest opportunity (thinking I had a blockage), I put my foot down hard and reached 70mph, whereby, as I drove into work, no smoke was apparent and revs/power seemed back to normal. Revving up once parked up seemed all ok. Temperature gauge normal.

I did top up the washers/top reservoir and oil in the last couple of days, so maybe down to a spillage ??. Not sure about the sudden loss of power though.

 

Any thoughts ??
