Dashboard Problem

Hi there,

 

Recently I have had a series of issues with my Galaxy (FORD GALAXY ZETEC 16V AUTO 2259cc (2000-09-05) PETROL). One day the speedo stopped working, the dial stayed at 0mph. Then a few days later the fuel gauge started to fluctaute up and down. I found out by accident that if I put the sidelights on that the fuel gauge and the speedo start to work again! Now I have started to get a message saying "STOP - Brake Fault" and this incessent beeping.

 

I took it to a guy and he checked the brakes and said they were fine and that most likely the I needed a new dash. Which sounds resonable. but unfortunately he couldnt detect any error on the machine thing he has to confirm it. Anyway the guy looked at the baord and cleaned it up a little (some connectors looked black or dirty) and it started to work fine for a week, but the problems have all returned.

 

Anyone ever seen this before? I suppose I will need a replacement dash. Anyone know a good place to source a second hand one (I assume the circuitry etc would be included in a replacement dash?.
