MrT Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 I have noticed something odd on my Galaxy that only seems to happen on long motorway drives when everything gets hot, if I accelerate above 50mph but below 80mph if feels like a vibration or a rocking wobble. I feel it through the seat and it is not felt at all through the steering wheel. My garage could not find any trace of it on their rolling road or any problems when they serviced and MoTed it. There is no sign of it when not accelerating or outside of the 50-80 speed range and it makes no difference what gear I am in. There are no other odd noises or any visible sign of anything wrong. The car is getting old but it has done less than 40K miles. Any ideas where I should be looking? Quote
chromedome Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 This could be dry CV joints or a problem with the drive shafts. Try repacking the CV joints with the appropriate grease first. Quote
MrT Posted August 3, 2011 Author Report Posted August 3, 2011 Yep, the inner CV joint on the drivers side had gone. There was just a tiny hole in the rubber that was nearly too small to see but the joint had dried out and worn out. There apparently was some bearing on the shaft that had also nearly totally gone. Too much for me to do myself nowadays, so it cost me Quote
