Standard reply - just disconnect your car battery for about 20 minutes, re-connect and keep your fingers crossed that it will sort itself out......

iirc you will need to get the key programmed by a Ford dealer. You can program your own key if you have another key that is already programmed for your car but as you state this is your only key I think your only option will be to get the chip programmed for you.

Just a thought....

If you are going to get the programming done by a dealer (I think that's the only option if you've only the one key) wouldn't you be better off getting another key at the same time? You need 2 keys to be able to reset the coding, so if you lose your only one again then you will have to go through the same routine with a dealer.

The chip in the key is purely for the immobliser when you put the key in the ignition it checks with the key to see if all is well if okay then the ecu will power up and also allow the engine to be cranked .There are various key cutting companys that will cut you a new key and some will even clone your key but you need the original chip, as you have lost it i don't think that you have any choice unless you have the immobiliser code they may be able to do it from that but don't hold your breath
