seatkid Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 My police contact processed the alleged anti-gatso plate through the anti-anti-gatso computer and came up with the number.. BTW my FBI contact also tells me this thread is being monitored as terrorist "keywords" were being used. Quote
djacks42 Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Best private plate I ever saw was on a dinky micra and it basically read 'wife 2' on it! who says romance is dead  Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Sorry John my sense of humour was switched off yesterday  seatkid I wish my plate did read that! Quote

Guest kev140766 Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 Nice pics. Where did you get the scuff protectors on the bumbers from? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 Putting 17" alloys on, lowering and stiffening the suspension = Seat Alhambra. Quote
Guest emjay Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 I'm interested to know more about the lowering - make & source of springs, cost, any problems encountered etc. May do my V6? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 any problems encountered etc. May do my V6? Depending on how you do it? just a set of springs or in my case I'm looking at replacing the whole suspension set up with a specific pack for the Galaxy that is infanatly height adjustable, has adjustable rebound settings and so on.......the major problem here is the cost! Dally Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 How much does the Seat sports pack come in at then Nimrod? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 How much does the Seat sports pack come in at then Nimrod? I've not sourced the parts yet! yet alone found a Seat dealers near me! they are rather scarce! the moment I get a price I'l let you know Quote
Guest nimrod Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 yet alone found a Seat dealers near me! they are rather scarce! Well I'l take that back! there are three of them within 30/45 minutes of my front door! they must hide them? as I drive past one of them at least once a week and I did'nt know it was there! Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Well I rang two Seat dealers and got told the same info :o the sports pack isnt available! it comes on the vehicle if fitted in the factory but isnt available as parts! even if a new vehicle has a failed shocker or spring they cant get the sports pack suspension parts and have to fit the uprated parts from the tow pack! one guy told me to try VW as the Carat has uprated suspension or try Ford as they are a lot cheaper for parts than VW or Seat! I asked him how come you can sell the Alambra cheaper and with a higher spec than the Ford or VW equivilents and he said off the record that they get their money back on the parts! he said ford make there money on the original sale price and not on parts but VW sting you both ways! I am now awaiting a call back on a Bilstein coil over set, a bit cheaper than the original price I was quoted :D Quote
timwood2000 Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 What would be the reason for lowering the suspension, other than looks? I am considering it, but don't want to comprimise the ride, in fact I am looking to make it slightly softer and as most of my driving is on motorways, lowering the suspesnions shuld imporve my mpg? Also, how much am I looking for having it lowered? Thanks v much Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Right then no call back :o so the search is still on :o so through the growing list of VW after market part stockists in the magazines I go looking and bingo up pops two stockists of uprated suspension kits for the Galaxy/sharan etc...... :D and one of them is on my door step :D I will be ringing them tomorrow first thing and will post the progress in my quest to slam the Galaxy to the floor :o What would be the reason for lowering the suspension, other than looks? with the lowered center of gravity in theory the handling should improve! with the increase in damping and increase in poundage of the springs the body roll/wallowing should be decreased! the disadvangtage in this is that the ride quality may become a little harsh! and you will feel the bumps and ripples in the road a bit more but the sea sickness should stop :o Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Well I bit the bullet today and put the order in, a FK Konigsport suspension kit is on its way :D in my search to lower and uprate the Galaxy's suspension I have found a total of six kits available, with lowering heights of 35mm to 70mm with fully adjustable damping rates! and numerous lowering springs with heights of 40mm to 60mm drops in the end I went for the adjustable damping kit due to fact that I can play around with it till I get a ride quality that I am happy with, and the wife will tolerate :( for those who wish to invest in such a kit try http://www.fk-automotive.de/ and once you have decided on the kit you want give Venom motorsport a ring on 01254814444 or try their web site venommotorsport.com they are stockist of FK and have a couple of other kits available for the Galaxy in a week to ten days time the kit should be sitting on my door step awaiting fitting :D just hope the weather holds or its four hour labour for my mechanic to fit it for me Quote
Guest daddycool Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Hi nimrod Glad you have sourced the parts you were after. At somepoint next year i will be buying another galaxy and am going to have it "tricked up" with DVD, PS2 etc. Another thing i am planning/ saving for is to have it lowered to compliment the looks as well as to improve the sea sickness drive and roll over and die cornering. I will be uprating the suspension and am interested to see how you get on with your new gear. Roughly how much did the suspension kit cost as i cannot find any prices for them? Many thanks and good luck Mark Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 FK Highsport (non adjustable damping) Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Heard loads of good things about FK Konigsport kits. Because my savings fund keeps getting spent on the kids clothes and nursery bills I'm thinking about going down the non adjustable root. I need to keep alot of the ride height aswell though cause of all the stock I deliver to the pub. Purple Peril love the motor mate looks lovely Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Because my savings fund keeps getting spent on the kids clothes and nursery bills I'm thinking about going down the non adjustable root. You know you wont be happy unless you go the whole hog and get the adjustables :( I was going for the non adjustables but changed my mind as soon as I put the phone down and rang the shop straight back up again to change my order :( Quote
MrT Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Don't forget to tell your insurance about your mods. Many standard or on-line insurers do not like to touch modified cars or will add an unreasonable premium. If you "forget" to tell them you are effectively uninsured. There were many who would not even touch a bog standard 2.8i Galaxy as it was too high a risk, even though I am a very low risk driver for insurance purposes. Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 You know you wont be happy unless you go the whole hog and get the adjustables  I was going for the non adjustables but changed my mind as soon as I put the phone down and rang the shop straight back up again to change my order <_< lmao I can see me doing that. As for mods my ins co allows 3 medium modifications (doesnt include a remap or upsized brakes for example) before they start charging for them, Alloys, Suspension (upto a 50mm drop I think it was) were all fine with them  Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I'm not sure if there a limit on my insurance to the amount of mods I can make, so far they havent charged any extra for the LPG, the non standard alloys or the tinted windows, that may change though when I inform them of the suspension drop? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 back end looks crap! to much bright red plastic  you want to get rid of the bright red panel on the hatch and fit a darker one off a Sharan one like so......... Like that idea! Got one spare!!?? :D Not got one on me :o but I have one on hold for me in a breakers! if your interested let me know as I'm hopeing to get back over there later this week! Quote
