Mk 1 Galaxy 2.3 Timing Chain

My 2.3 Galaxy started to make a bad rattling noise, on inspection the timing chain has gone slack due to the chain guide that goes between the cam sprocket and the bottom sprocket breaking, could anyone tell me if it is possible to repace this guide without removing the timing chain and upsetting the timing?

Not sure on the 2.3 but I've changed the guides on a 2.8v which involved a complete disembowelling of the car to get access, the timing didn't need to be disturbed as the guides slipped out easily and fitted easily
