Floydey Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Some kind and considerate person tried to open my Galaxy up yesterday with a rather large screwdriver. Consequently they broke the cylinder/barrel which now spins round in the handle. My question is - can the cylinder/barrel be replaced/fitted separately from the handle? and would Ford be able to provide a matching lock to my key? I don't really want to have to carry an extra on just for the drivers door. Thank you in anticipation Andy Quote

Thank you in anticipation Andy Hi Andy, Can i suggest that you take the handle from passenger side and swap for drivers side for now. Then perhaps source a rear handle and replace passenger one so no key or barrel work req keaping costs down . You could even source another handle and key and change the lock barrel settings but I have tried taking apart but found without a photographic memory and a clear workspace the bits explode and isn't a job to doin a hurry would be better left to a locksmiths skilled hands. v_leesy2k1 Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 when my lock collapsed i just went and got an after market remote locking kit and wired it up to the boot very cheep alternative to replacing the barrel if you have central locking Quote
