Wizzing Noise

I have MKII 1.9 TDI '02 - recently when driving i hear a wizzing noise.. its like a jet engine turbine noise and gose up in pitch when the revs are higher. when in stationary and I rev the engine it hardly makes any such noise.

 

Any pointers.. I cannot see any hoses broken. I am told it could be related to the turbo.

No power loss, runs the same as it has always. Brother inlaw is doing the anti roll bar bushes and drop links next week and will have the belly pan off , said he would check under engine then.

 

Just wondered if there was anything specific that can be checked.

Any other ideas? i do suspect a split hose somewhere.
