Amarok Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) As this is over a two week period I suspect the Alternator not charging properly if it was overnight then you have a short somewheredo you have access to a multimeter ? if you hold it on the terminals you should have 13 - 14Volts when the engine is running Edited May 17, 2011 by Amarok Quote

You say it goes flat every two weeks ! and that you do not do short trips !! but how many miles do you do and do you use it every day ? but as the other poster says you also need to do some voltage checks, first measure the voltage of the battery without the engine running, then start the car, and measure with it running at about 2000rpm, and then report back on here Radiotwo Quote

rosemount Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 Hi, radio two. sorry as you can see i'm new to this. well, think it could be the alternator, i'm going to use the multimeter first to test the battery when car is running & see what the voltage is. so how do i test the alternator? as you can see i don't have much idea!!! thanks for your help & to Seanwhu, that was helpful to know that someone else has this problem. My car has done 75k so maybe this is a problem. thanks. ROSEMOUNT Quote

28vr6 Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I had the same discharging problem less than a week before I had recharge, the old battery(less than a year old) was replaced with a calcium version since then haven't had to recharge at all so if your s is not a calcium this probably the reason Quote
