Hi all, I have a mk3 galaxy and the warning alarm went sounded for a brake light fault.

When I checked it was the high level light. the other brake lights work.

Are these high level lights leds? With all of them being off, could this be a fuse?

Thanks in advance, baz..

The is a TSB for high level break light failure

"12/9/10 Warning message <STOP LAMPS BULB FAULT> displayed on the instrument cluster

77/2010

Should a customer express concern that the warning message <STOP LAMPS BULB FAULT> is displayed on the instrument cluster, the probable cause is the load resistor wiring detached completely at the end of the ceramic body.

To rectify the concern, a new wiring loom for the high mounted stoplamp should be installed."

Hi, thanks for the reply. How would I get to the stop light. I've took the plastics off and can't see a way of getting the unit out.

Can I, or do I, have to get a replacement.

Thanks again. Baz.

for TSB don't need to remove light - problem is a oblong ceramic resister hanging in the wiring near the break light that fails - wire leg breaks off

TSB splices a pre wired replacement resister in to loom to replace broken one

on my 56 plate mk 3 galaxy the rear stop light is a bulb, the light is held into the tailgate by 2 metal clips the way l removed it was by removing the plastic on the inside then shining a torch in the holes remove the metal clips with screwdriver then remove light from outside fit new bulb from local car parts supplier the fit clips back onto lamp before putting back on then when you push it home you should feel it lock in place refit other interior bits and go for a well earned cuppa!! :D
