Hi

New to this Forum thing, but really need help. I have a Ford Galaxy 2.3 V6 GLX, 1997 R reg.

Lately it seems to be losing power, especially on hills and does this really wierd thing - (I am no mechanic and don't know the right words to describe faults properly so bear with me, lol.) Ok, in a morning when i first set off on the school run, it starts to 'jerk' as i'm driving. Sort of like when you are in too high a gear for the speed! Only i am speeding up as i have usually just set off driving. If i ease off and then re apply pressure to the accelerator, i can usually 'push' through it and after 30 seconds or so it's ok. When it does this it loses power. I have also noticed that my fuel gauge sometimes jumps up and down and also that on tickover it is reving higher than normal. Plus when it starts messing around, it drops power then all of a sudden the power just kicks back in and it goes like hell! Sometimes it doesn't play up at all. After searching the web, i found out that it could be the Lambda sensor or the Coolent sensor. Is it likely to be one of these? If we remove the Lambda sensor and it still plays up, what else could it be.

I have taken it to my garage but his diagnostic couldn't read it! He thought it may be the wires to the fuel pump, but hubby has checked these and couldn't find anything wrong.

Really need to get this sorted as i an selling the old girl due to buying a new car.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Please dont start multiple threads about the same problem. As pointed out in the other thread you either have a 2.8 V6 or a 2.3 4cyl, we need to know which.

First thing you should check is for air leaks at the inlet manifold. This could be due to a split in the vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold to the brake servo.

On the back of my Galaxy it says its a V6. I just assumed it was but after checking, you are right it is a 4 cyl. Sorry i din't know i should post again, just didn't know how to change the title, so i re posted. Edited by sammie32
